  • Design Strategist

    Whitman Emorson is seeking a design strategist. This role is ideal for an empathic and collaborative individual with strong communication skills—someone who’s eager to work with team members and make a meaningful contribution to a design studio engaged in a wide range of projects. The design strategist will work alongside and report directly to the strategy director. About the role The design strategist is instrumental to the research and brand strategy phases. You’ll be conducting creative research, mining for insights, understanding audiences and crafting brand strategies that guide our clients and creative work in ways that are thoughtful, responsive and innovative. While leading this part of the process (and reporting to the strategy director), you’ll continue to be involved in project development, working with designers to ensure the brand strategy is communicated and delivered through brand visuals and executions. Who we’re looking for The right candidate will feel comfortable working in a design studio and collaborating with clients and colleagues. As the role is client-facing, you should be adept at presenting and communicating. Ideally, you enjoy writing and are great at it—whether it’s crafting a pithy tagline, creating copy for a website, massaging a creative concept statement, or developing a brand strategy for a client. We are seeking someone who is independent, collaborative, entrepreneurial and above all, curious—always asking questions, reflecting on process, innovating and going above/beyond. Responsibilities - Creating research plans and conducting research - Participating in or leading client interviews, workshops and presentations - Audience research and developing personas and user journeys - Developing brand strategies, including insights, guidelines, brand voice/tone recommendations, etc. - Writing and editing: copy, taglines, decks, brand strategies - Participating in and/or leading naming projects - Participating in the creative process (brainstorming, creative meetings) while shepherding brand strategy through to executions - Working closely with the strategy director to develop and finetune strategy processes We pride ourselves in providing strong leadership and development opportunities for passionate people who are looking to build a rewarding career.
